For over 20 years Andy has been involved in the adult learning & development environment. He has been at the forefront of innovative solutions to develop teams and individuals both within and outside of the police service.
He has a varied training carreer in both delivering training and managing training departments. These have included delivering Investigative Skills, Equal Opportunities, Leadership Training & Probatiioner development. He delivered national training for Evaluation and Training Needs Analysis. Prior to retiring from the police after 32 years and was the lead for the Firearms Training Centre for Cleveland and Durham Police.
As a qualified trainer, coach, mentor and assessor: Andy brings a wealth of experience to make positive changes at an individual, team and organisational level.
Working at a strategic level as the Director of Training at the Police Firearms Tactical Training Centre for Durham & Cleveland Police he reported directly to the two Chief Constables and Police and Crime Commissioners. He ensured international recognition for the Firearms Training School, re-branded the product and led the strategic marketing of the new brand. His role involved design and delivery of Critical Decision Making, Post Incident Management Training and other training to all levels of various organisations from tactical through to strategic decision makers.
Andy has delivered a variety of training courses to organisations such as Phillips Conoco, Sabic, The Environment Agency, Cleveland Fire & Rescue, NEAS, NHS Specialists, Hartlepool Borough Council and Durham County Cricket Club.
In 2001 he received a M.Ed. (with Distinction) from Hull University, the first person to receive such an award in several years.
He has continued to challenge and develop himself and is certified by the American Board of Neuro Linguistic Programming (ABNLP) as an NLP Trainer, Coach and Master Practitioner of NLP, Hypnotherapy and Time Line Therapy™.
Andy has put his skills to good effect as a rugby coach with Durham Tigers RFL. His Under 13 team are the North East 2015 Grand Final and Challenge Cup winners!
To relax he performs an outstanding taxi service to his children! He loves listening to music and attending gigs, something that has been revitalised by BBC Radio 6 Music.
As part of his own personal goals Andy formed Purple Parrots three years ago. He did this so that he could continue to have a positive impact on the lives of those who seek out his positive approach for their personal growth.
